卢元课题组研究的中心模式是利用工程学、生物学、化学、物理学、数学和计算机科学等多学科交叉手段操作生物大分子和复杂的生物网络。研究的焦点在于发展和应用世界最前沿的技术,突破天然生命体系的限制,快速改造生物分子机器、细胞和系统网络,以解决生物制造、人类健康等领域最具挑战性的工程难题。卢元博士目前在PNAS、Small、ACS Synthetic Biology等杂志上已发表80多篇高影响学术杂志论文,多项国际国内授权专利。参加的科研项目受到了重大项目机构的支持,包括科技部重点研发计划、自然科学基金等。
